Front diff oil capacity ??
What's the capacity for 1998 W210 front diff? Benzworld DIY has a good turtorial saying 1/2 US quart. MB shops around here tell me 1.5 qt. Sounds like dumb question... I drained as much as possible (4/5 Qt or so) and put in about the same. Oil runs out drain / fill hole - that's full right?? I think the 1.5 qt for the front is wrong. Can somebody confirm please? Thanks!
Front diff oil capacity
Nope. It doesn't say in the manual. The front diff oil is supposed to a "non serviceable" part, like trans fluid. That's crap. And a good way to destroy both assemblys. The local MB dealer says "about 1 1/2 qts". Idon't think that's accurate either. Benzworld DIY says it's 1/2 qt, but I'm looking to verify that with a second source. Pretty sure, when the oil runs out the fill hole, it's full. (which in my case, is 1/2 qt). But... I would like to be very sure!!!!
Hi Mike -
I didn't comment when you first posted since my wagon is not a 4MATIC.
I just checked my W210 Service Manual DVD (WIS) and it says after servicing transfer case fill to overflow opening or about 0.85 liters.
Hope that helps some.

Thanks Richard,
That's about what I got back in there I guess. Removed as much as possible with suction gun. Put as much back in as I could with car slightly tilted to drivers side, til it spilled out fill hole. That will have to do!
I have to say this forum is a very valuable tool. I've picked up a lot of great info and saved TONS of labor expense. Best of all, have the satisfaction of doing it myself! Thanks for the sage advice from all the members.
