Windshield Wiper Problems
I couldnt figure out how to take off the plastic cover over the center of the wiper assembly but it sounds like its coming from there. I'd like to grease the assembly. Can someone tell me how to take it apart?
I believe you may need to remove the wiper arm assembly first. It has a smaller rectangular cover which also pops off to reveal a mounting fastener for the arm. WIS procedure recommends moving wiper to 12 o'clock by turning off the key at the right time when working on the system.
I purchased the washer pump at Autozone. It's part number 5-861 and is normally stocked in the store. Costs about $23. The autozone replacement works fine but it uses a different harness which comes with the part. You have to splice that in. Additionally it's not obvious which of the existing MB wires are positive or negative so you'll need to figure that out as well. I used a voltmeter. The job took about 20 minutes.
Alternatively you can order the part from autohausaz.com for about the same price (plus shipping unless you have a $50 order) and I think that one uses the existing harness.
