Persistent BAS-ASR & ABS problem!
Already did the usual suspects;
- replaced brake light switch
- replaced the battery (bosch)
- alternator changed out last year (bosch)
- replaced the OVP board
I've read about the light switch in some cases, anyone?
I've read about the lateral sensor but my car doesn't have ESP
After posting the above I also got a EDC light (Electronic Diesel Control) on, and the car stalls while driving! This is pointing towards the fuel pump costing € 2,300.-
After two of these stalls the car doesn't crank at all anymore, and was towed to my MB specialist. On the OBD scanner it's throwing authorization codes, pointing towards the electronic ignition socket. BOTH smartkeys don't work so it's highly unlikely a new key will do any good, but a new key/socket combo runs between €1.200,- and 1.500,-
I don't want to take the risk of starting repairs and running into one costly problem after the other. Besides there's probably still the ABS-BAS-ASR problem so I'm leaving this car as is!
Going to look at a late 2000 E320 CDI tomorrow...
Ofcourse it goes like a rocket compared to my NA 220 Diesel! I'll post pics on saturday, especially from the engine. I don't believe the inline CDI was delivered in the W210 in the US?
My other option was waiting for a scrapped smartkey/ignitionsocket/computer combo from another E220D to save €€€ but that would still leave me with the fuelpump problem. The 220D engine is the ONLY type not using a Bosch- but a Lucas fuelpump and these are almost impossible to be found used. The 220D was widely sold in the W202 C-class in Europe and the Lucas pumps are prone to leaking so everyone is looking for them!

not common here in my country hahahahaha
