Need parts advice
It's that time again! Here are a few other things (in addition to the belt tensioner assembly) that the dealer suggested replacing. This is for a 1998 E320 (W210). Can you please suggest/confirm the parts that I am planning on getting?
- Front lower ball joints. Which one would you suggest? I have seen the HD being suggested somewhere, but the "longer wearing" part concerns me a bit. http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...0@Ball%20Joint
- Oil leaks at filler neck and oil pressure test port seal. I had a friend look at this and saw the leak at the filler neck, but he wasn't sure where the pressure test port was. Any ideas? Also, what part replaces the filler neck?
- Air filter. Not much to choose here. http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...2@Air%20Filter
- Fuel filters. Which one should I get? Apparently, the Mann one might not fit per the note that they have "Please verify appearance and connections on existing unit prior to ordering." So, stick with the bosch one? http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...@Fuel%20Filter
- Spark plugs. Which one would you suggest? http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...2@Spark%20Plug

For starters consider joining epc-net online (https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/home.jsp) it's free and gives you access to MB's online database of factory parts.
The oil inspection port is on the front of the engine just below and a little to the left of the oil filter housing. It is behind the belt and is about 3/4" wide by 1 1/2" tall. There is a round plug in the center. Generally, it is the rectangular gasket around the edges which leaks not the o-ring for the center plug. If you are changing the belt tensioner then you will be removing the belt and access is easy.
The fuel filter is located under a plastic panel on the underside of the car - just in front of the driver's side rear tire.
Many people recommend the single electrode Bosch (the third one) claiming that the Bosch multi-electrode causes problems. I installed the Bosch multi-electrode and have had no problems.
