'01 W210 E320 CDI
In Europe there's such a system and it's called ISO-FIX. It's a system where the child seat is clicked directly onto a bracket fixture already in the car. No more straps/bands/belts. It's never been on the W210 here though, maybe on the W211.

'04 Cobra & '04 S430
In the US - all car makes have been required by law to provide it in their 2004 line up - although I'd be interested to know when MB implemented it as well. Looks like the answer is 2002 based on the posts above.
