then, you move the handle away from the car, so that the flat blade moves

only be 1 or 2 kg (not much)

in doing so, the shiny metal releases it's hold on the plastic mirror cover.

I'm sorry, but I was unable to make a photo/video. We had a huge rain storm
hit the city so I was unable to get to the car for photos....and won't for
several days until the storm passes (really, not fabricating excuses).
thank you, guess ive been doing it wrong after all, its okay raymond.

i appreciate all your efforts, hope to hear from you soon!

i'm beginning to think that the metal clip may have been bent too far at one
point, ergo your difficulties. how about trying to take a hacksaw blade and
use it as you would a slim jim? the goal would be to try and catch the metal
clip from the other side (next to the plastic housing) and pushing it towards
the car.......and releasing tension enough so that the plastic mirror housing
can slide free/out?

i've not tried it but if i get a chance tomorrow, I will. the weather may even
allow me to photo/video the attempt.

no video. crevices are just too close together for me to take photos or videos
as needed. here is the technique i used today to remove the mirror cover

grabbed wooden stake off the garage floor. used this to hold back the mirror
after bending it back against spring tension. see arrows on mirror structure
pointing out main contact points. these pinch the stake and keeps it from
slipping out.

i actually accessed the locking mechanism by coming at it from below (photo 1)
red arrow.....since i had difficulty (more than 60 secs) getting it off and i was
getting impatient.

i grabbed my 90º screwdriver (photo 2) which is about 5" long and tripped that
metal catch on the mirror from below (photo 3, yellow arrow), not using the
method in your video (photo 3, red arrow).

when you're ready to reinstall the mirror cover, be sure you pay close atten-
tion to blinker connection (photo 4, yellow), and guiding rails (photo 4, yel/red)

....these help guide the connection together, similar to airplanes refueling in
flight.

this is a finesse procedure. simple but requires touch. no long tools can be
used given the narrow confines of the mechanism. you have all the pics
necessary to imagine the relative positions. you'll need to work with the
picture in your mind as you try to pick this simple locking mechanism.

today's efforts took 5 mins, including photos. aggravating, but once you do
this successfully 1 time, it'll become apparent. i wish i could paint clearer
pictures with words/description but the above video, drawings, and photos
are about as good as it gets.

you've posted 4 requests over 3 hrs but other than describing what it won't do,
you've not posted what you have tried. I posted a link to a list of troubleshooting
threads and presume you're doing your part to systematically work through the
myriad of possibilities why it won't re-latch. if the mirror still isn't working you
really need to be more descriptive, or have someone handle this locally

the latching mechanism is so simple that it either latches or not. so folks who
are willing to help need more info from you what suggestions to eliminate before
moving ahead.
