Help with E320 spin out after washing car
I have a '97 E 320 and I'm very happy with the car. The only problem I've had is the tendency for the rear of the car to spin out (if I turn hard right or hard left and accelerate) immediately after I've washed the car and hosed down the tires. This only occurs after a car wash - I've tried to simulate the condition on wet/rainy roads and it's not a problem.
My tires are in good shape (Michelin Energy - 215/55/16).
Any pearls of wisdom? Should I buy different tires when I buy new tires?
Thanks!

MBWorld Fanatic!
Jon,
I've had this happen after I wipe on a liberal amount of tire dressing (Maguire's Endurance, usually) because I tend to do some of the treads on the outside when I'm sloppy.
But other than that, no idea.

Wild Guess, but What the Heck!!!
Here's what I think may be happening. The brake rotors are wet and when you do the hard turn, the ABS/traction control kicks in but slips due to slippery rotors. You spin momentrarilly untill pads can grip on rotors. Sounds unlikey but try driving off after the wash with brake slightly depressed (to dry off rotors). Then try to spin out. If you do, then throw my theory out. If you don't, then my theory MAY be correct, in which case you will have to take the vehicle in for some thorough inspection 'cause what I just suggested is NOT supposed to happen!!!
