1999 E320 4matic Wagon
Shocks info

I have a 1999 E320 4matic Wagon and just recently noticed a very rough ride. Very harsh over bumps and dips. It feels very stiff. I have seen mention of the Accumulators, my question is, do ALL of these wagon have the leveling system?

Thanks, I'd like to "smooth" this out quickly.

Well, MB's have a pretty firm ride if you are used to, say, a Buick Roadmaster. Also, you might want to double check the tire pressures if you haven't done so.

If you have Xenon headlights then self-leveling is part of the package. But it's also an option without.

If you don't know what options your car has you can look up the VIN on this site (sometimes it's down) http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng. Or if you are in the US you can join EPC-Net (www.startekinfo.com). It's free but you need to supply a credit card for proof of location. Once registered, enter your VIN and select 'Data Card' from the menu. This is also very handy for parts lookup info.

Also, the self-leveling and power steering systems share a common fluid reservoir. It is just in front of the windshield washer reservoir.

All MB wagons have self leveling, no matter the lighting. The accumulators are usually indicated by rough suspension. The struts have a long life

The power steering pump performs dual duty for the levelers and ps. Stiff ride can be due to dirty fluid and recycle issues. Try a simple flush and refill at your indy or local dealer.
