Question Newbie ?: Need help on correct lug size

Hey yall..... Im a pround new owner of a 98 e430. This my very first MB and love it! I just put on winter tires to the existing rim that came with the car. Prev owner said t was an AMG but I do not have a clue which model it came from or name, etc .. Tire place said I did not have the proper lugs for the rims since it was not seating properly. I have pic of the rim below and somebody can chime in who can suggest the correct lug size for this rim. I think stock is 12mm. Thanks in advance......

You car has 12mm shank with 12mm ball seat. Most newer AMG are 14mm and 14mm ball seat. There are hybrid lug bolts with 12mm shaft and 14mm ball seats from suppliers like Prestige Wheels and RAD-USA. But if those rims are not real AMG then they could be anything. Look for a MB Part No. on the inside of rim.

One other thing to check. The lug bolts should extend out the back of the wheels by about 16-17mm. If they are longer they can hit the emergency brake shoes in the rear hubs. If they are shorter you may not be catching enough threads (6-7) to securely hold the wheel.

Also, if you drive on wet/snowy roads w/wo salt, it's a good idea to loosen and retorque your lug bolts twice a year.
