K40 Relay 1996 E300D
From are threads I have read regarding K40 Relay I pulled mine and it looks slightly different from the other pictures shown. Vehicle is a 1996 E300D.

If you have crank the relay is Ok. when flashes the lights in the rear view mirror you have an inmovilizer locked, this is why the car doesnt start. try turning ignition to possition 1 and press / hold the "lock/unlock" button of the key by a few seconds, remove the key of the switch. close/open the car & try to start again

1996 mercedes e300d
speedometer antitheft problem
my 1996 e 300d would not start intermitently and shut off occassionally driving red and green antitheft light would flash. Also speedometer would rarely work with abs and ETS light on. Shop could not diagnose I read about K40 relay problem on forum. Replaced K 40 relay and all problems are resolved
