Hello and Welcome to the forum -

The system you are referring to is known as the Flexible Service System (FSS).

To use it correctly you must do three things:

1) Use a MB spec oil either 229.3 or 229.5 such as Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 0W-40 (European Car Formula)
2) Use a fleece (polyester) media filter such as the Mann HU 718/5
3) Reset the FSS which will then show the 15000km

As you drive the car, the engines computer will track the miles, whether the engine reaches full operating temperature and whether moisture builds up in the oil. When it becomes close to the time to change the oil and filter, the computer will alert you.

The 15000km is only a starting point. If you make a lot of short trips it will advise you to change the oil sooner. If you drive almost exclusively at highway speeds for long distances you may actually exceed 15000km. Also, if you don't drive very much at all you need to change the oil once a year. The FSS is supposed to alert you to time or distance.

You do not have to use FSS. An alternative is to use a good high quality oil and a paper filter. Then change the oil based on mileage just as you did before. However, people who change the oil more frequently will probably spend just about the same amount as using FSS.

Using a non-spec oil and a paper filter WITH the FSS can cause sludge to build in the engine.

Your English is easy to understand.

One thing I thought of is that you will still need to reset the FSS even if you choose not to use it. The problem is that it will continue to alert you that you missed an oil change until you reset it.

They are several MB oils with Spec 229.3 or 229.5 approval besides Mobil 1. Since you are out of the US here is a list of all approved fluids. See page 3 for MY1998-2004. BTW, this is a good doc to print out and refer to for all fluids/filters if you wish to follow manufacturers recommendations.
