Ignition key barrel removal 97 (pre-facelift M104) W210

Ignition key barrel removal 97 (pre-facelift M104) W210
Have experienced jammed ignition due to key wear. Managed to get to position 1 by building up key with nail polish. Now need to remove barrel with key in position 1.

Can anyone tell me if for this model is barrel:
a) removed from front like w202 in this link http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/sh...ad.php?t=69034 or
b) removed after fully removing ignition lock/switch assembly?
