Better engine performance
Hello.
I recently bought one W210 300TD from 1997 with only 117000kms and now i think that for a 3000cc engine the power could be really better...
At this moment it is stock with 177hp but i want to improve it and i need your help.
i do not want a car with 400hp(woow!!!!) as i found, i just want 250hp but i want power from the low rev.
So i thought to install a new turbo, but a VGT one because it has more power since low rev, right?
Which turbo do you advise, GT2256v, or GT2260VK thaks what i thought.
i am a newbi on this matters but i want to make a couple of things to my engine..
i keep on you to help me..
Thanks

A new turbo won't cut it. Your current turbo is vacuüm controlled and VERY reliable. I dunno if the onboard electronics can control a VGT turbo. A larger turbo will heatup the intake air more, needing a bigger intercooler. For 250hp you'll also need bigger injectors and a higher-capacity fuel pump. Then there's the question if your torque-converter and gearbox will last.
I do know the OM606 300TD is heavily modded by the Finns, but I fear it'll cost you MUCH less money if you sell your 300TD, buy a 320CDI and get it chipped!
Stock 300TD OM606 has 330Nm torque
Stock 320CDI OM613 has 470Nm torque @1800rpm
(Stock W210 E55 has 530Nm torque)
