bubbles on tint

Hi guys, i just got my E320 tinted and i have a question about the tinting. The guy who tinted my windows told me that the little bubbles that appeared in the tint would go away after a few days. They look like little air bubbles. Is this true? Thanks for any input.

It depends on what kind of bubbles they are. If they are air or water bubbles like he claims, this is normal and yes they should all go away within a couple days, it helps if your car is sitting in the sun as well. On the other hand, if you rub your fingures across them and feel a lump or a ***** like there is some dust or grit in there, then those will not go away and will end up lifting over time. Your windows will also appear hazey until they dry up so be patient and don't roll your windows down for a couple of days. Let me know how they look then once they've dried...J

or if you can't wait, you can speed up the process with a hair blow dryer. Blow on the GLASS, not on the tint because you might warp it. Also, don't leave the blow dryer on a certain spot for too long because that might also warp the tint

Henry is right, they probably did this at the tint shop as well but you can use a blow dryer on the outside of the glass and use the top of your fingures (more sensitive) to touch the glass and check for heat. If the spot you are blow drying gets too hot to the touch, move to another spot. Patience is the best key though and slow drying with the suns heat will do just fine.

Learn something new everyday. How long does it take, with just drying in the sun, for the tint to dry completely? I had my windows tinted about 3 weeks ago. Should they be fully dry by now?

Thank you.

Oh yeah, they dried a long time ago. If it's warm outside, tint usually dries within 48-72 hours. That's why shops tell you not to roll your windows down for a couple of days...

Jim, tell me again what to use to clean the tinted sides of my windows without damaging the tint. Thanks,

your safest bet would be to use microfibre towels and windex that DOES NOT contain amonia. I use Invisible Glass by Stoners, and it works pretty well.

Use any cleaner without amonia or alcohol and you should be fine. I tend to use the glass cleaner from Cosco (they only have one) in the light blue and white can that does not contain any amonia. I agree that microfibre towels work well. Even a soft white terry-cloth will do the job. I would slightly dampen and wring out the terry cloth though so as not to get white lint all over the place.
