Electrical problems

So i was going to put a radio in my car i disconnect the negative terminal and plug in the radio and as i try to start the car everything just shuts down im wondering what could the problem be the battery didnt seem to be dieing before i drove it and was wondering could it be the radio?

i ordered it from crutchfield and it said it was compatible. can anyone help me out?

have you gone back to verify that the polarity of the connections are all as designed? in other words, might you have reversed leads or wired something
backwards?

i got it fixed i guess it just wasnt postioned right but it works now, but of course nothing ever goes right for me so now my radio powers up perfect and everything but refuses to produce sound
