Gold Mods
I was wondering if there is anyone on here with a gold exterior post-lift with any kind of apperance mods. Gold is just a color very few have! I'm just wondering if any chrome in the interior or any rims would just be too tacky with the color. I was going to wrap my door handles in a brown suede because they have some wear to them and everytime I attempt to clean them it gets worse. Any advice on materials for that? Or if you could provide a link to a known one. I've been having a very tuff time finding examples. Thanks for your time.

IMO: gold mods on any car have to be one of the worst things you could do.
As for the handles, suede will wear as well. You have to be careful on what material you apply. I don't know much about interiors, but the reason you see handles in either plastic / pleather / leather or wood is because of the wear our body oils/sweat do to the material. A local body shop guy should be able to answer that question best.

Not gold mods. Mods to a gold car. I know someone on here did a headliner in suede and I'm just thinking of the best place to put the seam on the door handles

Yeah thats my concern, I would think about hiding the seam line on the inside and probly putting an quarter inch wide strip over the seam to help prevent it from peeling back. It would probly be something that would have to be replaced every year but its not that much in material. Theres a d.i.y headliner sticky on benzworld, looks easy but time consuming. I guess its just tuff finding stuff that looks nice with my Gold exterior and java interior. Suede in dark brown would look nice, because nothing in the car is a real dark brown color.

I had a gold W210 once, couldn't stand it, damn near had it repainted taxi beige, but instead I sold it and bought an identical E but in a color thats easier on the eyes, lol. This is my personal opinion, not the general consensus obviously.
If you notice, in Europe or anywhere else in the world, gold cars are almost non existent, while in the US it seems like every other E-Wagon is gold. Middle Easteners loves their gold cars as well tho..
My old goldie below, kinda looked better after some minor mods.

Theres 2 wagons and another sedan within 3 miles from where I live. I'm thinking about selling it as well because theres just nothing you can do. I just spent 3 hours claybar, and 2 coats of wax and the car doesn't shine anymore than when I started. It's just the cleanest example I could find after 5 months of searching I had to pull the trigger, the a.d.d was kickin in.

That is like my dads ride before I gave him my Asanti wheels. I thought it was a champagne color. Never looked to see what the MB calls it. I have never seen this color car done up in an aggressive look.
LOL.... didn't think he painted it GOLD like in the Middle East.
I would just keep it classy....Get the suede handles out of your mind what about the snow where you live, not a good idea.

Thats true never thought of that. I guess I'm used to moding my cars and this one has me at a stand still not sure what to do. I think the headliner would be ok but I think I might just sell it, although I only use it winter and no really nice cars are out in the winter unless the have all-wheel drive and even then people dont like them being exposed to salt. I do see a Bentley gt from time to time though.

Wood replacements in Burlwood match the interior trim nicely and hold up very well. Or go to a salvage yard or our sponsor MyMercedesParts.com and talk to Bob Rox. He is a great guy with 35 years in with the dealer in Atlanta. Great prices too and he will work with you on getting some replacement handles. They are no that much.
