2002 E320 Special Edition, Quartz Silver
Just Bought the E320 Special Edition!

I drove out the car from the dealership and the odometer was showing 7 Miles on it. I have never driven a car that gives this kind of driving feel, simply awesome. I got the Quartz Silver, it is simply stunning. I got the MB for below invoice from my local dealer but they got me on the CD changer for which they charged me 860$ Seems like a very steep price for a CD changer that sits in the boot of the car. The finance guy tried to sell me the extended warranty and a linterior leather treatment. I was wondering if any of you guys have purchased the extended warranty and how you take of the interior leather?

Thanks

- a Very excited MB owner

First congrats!! When i bought mine i didn't get the warranty either. I figured when something goes wrong i can go to my local MB dealer friend and he can hook me up. As far as the leather interior don't really need a lot of cleaning so i just leave it as is!

BTW: Pls post some pics!!!

You can buy an extended warranty anytime before the Origianal warranty expires. So you have 4 years. Also check with your insurance company - Geico offers Mechanical BreakDown option. Also check with any other MB dealer to get quotes on the warranty. You do not have to buy it from the selling dealer. You can make any of them an offer and bid this as well. Good Luck.

Thumbs up Congratulation!!!

The only problem is once you own a Mercedes Benz you will not go back to anything else. Trust me I have owned 97'E320 and 98'E430 Sport and currently own 98'CLK320, 01'ML320 and 02'E55. These cars are just amazing! Regarding the extended warranty, if you put a lot of milage on your car it would not be a bad idea to get the extended warranty. I believed there are 2 types, basic and the premium. I am planning to purchase the premium extended warranty for my E55 before the 1 year is up.

Regarding the leather, I use the Mercedes leather conditioner product on my leather seats twice a year. This will keep the leather soft and looking new. Once again, congratulation and enjoy your car.

Congratulations on your new car !!!!

I'm also in the market for a special edition and the invoice pricing looks really good - where are you located? I'm in the chicagoland area - just wondering if somebody has any info on what the dealers are offering for the special editions around here.

Thanks.

you should seriously consider the extended warranty if you expect to be at the wheel past 50K. repairs are expensive, even at independent shops.

I live in the SFBayArea. I was willing to pick up the car from
SoCal and talked to Laguna Niguel salesperson ( I talked to
a Steve Bur****). They were willing to give me a very good
price for the car. But I had also talked to the local dealer who
matched the price very closely thus saving me the hassle
of making the trip to SoCal and 300+ miles drive back.

I suggest you talk to a volume dealer (basically a dealer who
sells a lot of cars). They tend to be more willing to work with
you seriously and are constantly trying to move inventory
quickly out of their parking lot. In the end everyone is happy!

Thanks for all the replies and feedback. I just bought the premium
extended warranty for 4 yrs/100,000 miles from Lisa of Courtesy motors for $1780 (it was $1680 for 3 yrs).

She said she would mail me the contract in a week. And said
that she has updated the MB database which should now
show the extended warranty on it. I believe next time I
take it in for service I could ask them to verify it for me.
Is there any other way to do it?
