Need some advice please!

Hello everyone!

Recently I bought a 1998 Mercedes e250 (non turbocharged, which is strange because all researches show e250TD not just e250 for that production year) and I found out that EGR valve is not working. Still, my car doesn't go in limp mode and it does not emit black smoke. I know for sure that previous owner has not messed with the EGR. My question is, would fixing the EGR increase acceleration oor engine performance?

Excuse my ignorance and thanks in advance for any help I can get.

It should improve performance near idle conditions, but usually not much at running speeds.

Thanks for the answer Hirnbeiss!
I was beginning to think that it was just a dumb question that deserved not reply at all! Thanks again!
