Disconnected battery, now Warning lights on
Hi guys
Just disconnected the battery on my E320 4matic to install a rust defender module in it since I heard these cars rust easily due to the type of paint they used. However, when I reconnected the battery I'm getting "BAS fault, visit workshop" and "ABS fault, visit workshop" on my dashboard. Any ideas how to clear these?
If Its inputting in the radio code, I can't do that since my audio doesn't work due to the cut fiber optic wires that hook up to the 6 disc changer in the trunk.

First, try turning the steering wheel from lock to lock to see if it clears the BAS error. With the engine running of course.
These cars are kind sensitive to changes in the electrical systems. It monitors the circuits to see when a light burns out and resistances and voltages it isn't expecting can cause problems.
Ordinarily a BAS or ABS light would clear itself but if the circuits are changed who knows? If the lights don't go out after driving for while (one trip) then disconnect the 'rust defender' and see what happens. You can also get a OBD scanner and scan and clear error codes but if the problem that caused the code is still present the error code will come back.

Also the electric windows do work if you half push the buttons, but they won't automatically open and shut all the way with one push (if that makes sense).

That's because they lost 'sync' when you disconnected the battery. Open them part way, if necessary, then close them but keep holding the switch for about 4 secs after the window is all the way closed. Repeat for each window and the sunroof.

Damn these cars are super sensitive, even my 2008 5 series isn't this sensitive!
So if the error codes don't clear by themselves, is there any way for me to keep the rust defender module installed?
I tried turning the steering all the way to the left then all the way to the right to see if the steering angle sensor just needed to be reset, but alas it didn't work. i'm going to go try the windows / sunroof now

YEEESSSSS got it to work! I took it for a drive to mcdonalds and when i turned it off the car still kept the error messages, then i went in grabbed some food and on the drive back poof! its all gone!
got another thing, i installed hid kits into the car but now even during daytime the hid's are still on even if the light switch is turned off, should i just disconnect the DRL fuse?
also a couple lights in the thermometer is out, but earlier they turned on, and now they are off could that be the fuse as well? and the lighter doesn't work, could that also be fuse problems? (i want to put one of those portable gps in the car)
