Ecode headlights

I come from/and still am in the Audi world. With that being said, I am sorry, but I don't know if some people know what ecode headlights are, but thats the term used in the Audi world for european headlights.

Basically I am wanting to know if the W210 headlights from Germany are glass lens or plastic? I have been thinking and wondering if it is possible to take the Depo projector guts and put them into the OEM Euro or USDM housings with some euro glass lenses.

OR

Take the guts of a CL600 and modify to fit into the 210 housings. Just a thought.

I am new around here, but not to turning wrenches or german cars. One of my first jobs was a European mechanic, mostly older Merc's. Then I ended up working for Ewing Autohaus, for those of you who are from the Plano/North Dallas area, doing paint and body work on Merc's.

I look forward to working with you all throughout my mercedes ownership!

The lens is plastic on the 210s,One can take then apart for mods or repairs
The e code or euro lights have a different plate at the lens for euro,USA,lhd and rhd as I added euro headlights in my w210 with a rhd drivers side headlight for a complete sweep of light unlike the cut off for USA cars

Sounds very interesting. So if I understand you correctly your pattern looks more like this:
\__ __/
instead of the usual:
__/ __/

I was looking at trying to get a set from germany send over. Usually too, the fluting on the lenses is less in Europe and will allow for greater light output than the USDM version.
