Bad smell from aircon after melted heater blower regulator replaced

Hi,
I had a heater blower regulator replaced after it basically melted.
After doing this and regassing everything now works fine for the aurcon.

Howether, i am now gettign the smell of the burnt regulator comign through the vents for a while after startign the car. i think it goes away after a minute or so or maybe i just get used to it.

My question is this -

Are the pollen filters between the heater blower regulator and the airvents?
ie have the pollen filters been contaminated ny the burnt regulator so that they need replacing?

Can i take the pollen filkters out run the aircon/blower to see if it is better?
It wont cause any damage to the system if i run withotu the filters for a couple of minutes?

Thanks
Phil

The pollen filter was exposed, IIRC. It's fairly easy to swap out with a new one.

Try also using your charcoal filters to see if that helps filter the smell. You engae them with one of the top buttons on the AC control unit.

Just curious: which filter (pollen or charcoal) comes first in the fresh airflow path?

Pollen/dust is for inlet air. Activated charcoal is a recirculation filter and is downstream from the inlet.

So...just to make sure -

it goes -

from outside to pollen filter to heater blower/regulator to charcoal filter to 'in the face'?

I took the pollen filters out and maybe it is a little better for the smell...they smell a little of the burnt plastic.

It is curious that the smell goes after less than a minute.

That's the way your brain works! Once your senses get overloaded they shutdown.
