seal rings on the steering rack
I have a leak coming from the seal rings on the steering rack gear as you can see on the attached pictures.
The part number is 024.997.71.48, item# 29 on the epc parts list for steering gear and steering linkage.
Has anyone repaired this leak? Is it possible to do some DIY on this one?
Your help is much appreciated.

Hi and Welcome -
Steering rack problems are pretty uncommon so I don't think there is a DIY. You might check on benzworld/w210 forum. I have seen posts on replacing the rack and replacing the boot so you might search on those items.

Thanks for your input.
I'll try benzworld and i'll keep this one updated.
Just to make it clear. Everything is good with my steering. I just have this oil leak coming from the seal rings on the steering rack and almost everyday i need to pay close attention to the steering oil level.

Hello guys,
Here's some updates on this leak on the steering rack.
I already have the seal rings but know i'm trying to figure out how to bleed the system after replacing the seal rings.
Here's the link:

Inputs here too will be welcome

Turning the steering lock-to-lock a couple of times should ensure there is fluid in the rack. If you have the load level system there is a filter on the underside of the cap for the reservoir. Probably a good time to replace it if you have one.
