Blinking Gas Low Light and Check Engine Light
I noticed that the gas low light was blinking on my E320 2001 after my wife had filled up gas! I drove it for 2 days w/o knowing why and noticed that the Check Engine Light also had come on after day 1. Then I found on MBWorld that the possible cause was a loose gas lid. I noticed that the lid was indeed not fully secured and I turned it until it clicked.
But the "check engine light" still persists.
Why?

There's no way to really know what's wrong until you can get the error codes from car computer. Go to your local auto parts store and borrow their ODB reader. Get the errors codes and post back.

you might have some vapor issue in the gas line/ tank... fill it up , close it tight .. drive it for few miles then see. Gas Low , usually doesnt blink...you might also have a faulty fuel level sender . You have to eliminate one at a time ...because usually low fuel or even a faulty sender wont trigger the CEL...vapors " might "
