vibration during braking
my car seems to be vibrating when i am braking. there is no vibration at speeds of 70-80, which would suggest bushing wear and tear. i have currently 72 k on it. thanks for the advice

When I did this job, I had the front rotors turned at PepBoys for $8.00 each. I replaced the pads with OEM Pagid brand.
When everything was apart, I noticed that the right front caliper must have been sticking because the inside pad was more worn than the outter.
I sanded all of the caliper contact points with emery strips and made sure that I put a little anti-seize on these surfaces before reassembly.
Turning the rotors made a big difference, new rotors would do the same. Sticky caliper probably did not help the situation either.

i will talk to the mechanic this week and will keep u posted. also sad that i notice oil leak from the front gasket too........i guess that what happens when the car is 72k old
i had my car seen by the mechanic. at first he thought it was the bushings, but later after examining it was the warped rotor. he told to not change it yet since my brake pads have arond 4to 5 months left, then to change them both.
thx e-klasse for the heads up...saved me the anxiety.

I found a good, long, write up from Luke (Tirerack.com). The information was indepth and very useful. It indicated that brake vibrations can quickly come back after machining. But it also indicated that brake rotor runout was caused mainly by brake pad material being deposited onto the rotor. Well, to make a long story short, I got out my dial gauge and measured the runout. The worst side was .014".
For my rotors, after machining, they were still within the tolerated thickness, but on the thinner side of the scale. Given that stock rotors are soft, hence the grooved lip on the edges of the rotors. I think that after machining the rotors warped. causing a worst vibration than before the brake job.
I ended up getting a pair of Brembo replacement rotors from the Tirerack. Machining the stock rotors was not worth the effort, given that replacement rotors are in the $55-$70 each for stock type.
For 007, you should probably have yours changed soon, you will notice a big difference!
