1999 E320 transmisson doesn't change gear
Hello All,
My E320 has been down for a couple of months now. I was driving the car, and it suddenly started to coast, I mashed the gas and nothing happened. I coasted to a stop and put the car in park, cut it off, cranked it back up and put it in drive....nothing happened, reverse.....nothing....all the other gears.....nothing. I have a friend who brought a special computer to see what the issue could be, but it just gave him a general malfunction code. I thought it was kinda' odd for the transmission to suddenly go out and none of the gears work. The car doesn't jump or anything. I put it in all the gears the car has and nothing happens. usually a transmission goes out, but at least one of the gears work. This almost seems like something has come loose or a sensor went out.
The previous owner swapped out the trans his self, he was stumped as to what the issue could be. He thinks something may have come loose.
I changed the fluid, the filter, and all that stuff, and still nothing. Any ideas on what would make NONE of the transmission gears work and suddenly go out? I didn't have any symptoms or anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like worn clutches, mine had the same problem a week ago, all of a sudden the car did not move at all, put it in D or R nothing happened, i think the computer will not read any codes because this a mechanical problem not electrical issue
