What are my chances of smoking that Caddy. I have Evo Sport pulleys and Carlsson rear muffler. Anybody raced that car before.
Thanx.

97 Cadillac STS, 4.6-liter dual-cam Northstar engine, 300 horsepower, 4-speed automatic transmission adopted electronic controls. The reviews say that it is strong against such imported rivals as the BMW 740iL, Lexus LS 400, and Infiniti Q45

My father-inlaw has the SLS with only 275 horsepower and it is fast. You might want to race against the SLS instead.

My friend has a 2001 Caddy STS and I just test drove a 2001 E430, and I'd have to say that both are fast, but the Caddy gives a lot more of the "seat in pants" feel. The 430 is more luxiurous while the Caddy I feel is a equivalent performer at a better price...

My $.02

Sounds like you wants to race against the STS and not buy it. Performance wise the E430 stacks up better against the SLS but with your modifications you might be close to the STS. Have you put your Benz on a Dyno and checked what the mods have added? Any change to your air intake like adding a K&N filter?

I owned a Cadillac STS in the mid 90's. It was the car that made me decide never to purchase another GM car. By far it was the worst automotive experience I have ever had and in my lifetime I have owned over 40 cars. This bad experience was from all angles, from dealer support/service to quality of the components to fit and finish.

The stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile times favor the E430 over the Caddy. So with your mods you shouldn't have a problem. I wouldn't believe.

Race
Was this track racing or on the street? Did you race him for pink slips?

About 3 cars but the point is that i smoked that Caddy. No pink slips rather drive a Hyundai to work than that Caddy.
What are my chances with BMW540. It was a street race but it was like 1/4 of a mile meaby even more.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Great news! I wish someone would've taped it though. Anyway, I am also curious to know at what speed you ended up in front of him by 3 car lengths?

Your chances with BMW 540 are not good as they were with STS.

BMW 540 has more horse power than what we have. Their sport class has Less body roll than ours.

If that BMW is a 6 spd than I wouldn't even think about it unless if you have done something to your benz.

Guys - Just to clarify, I am am not knocking down Benz. I OWN ONE and am very happy with it.

I think if you want class then own a Benz
If you want performance then own a BMW

Thats my opinion You could totaly disagree with me

Yeah i agree with zimrza but the other thing is BMW engines are so maxed out from factory that you cant do nothing to them performance wise i mean you could but its very expensive and you got to do engine work. Benzes on the other hand you can add like 100 to 150 HP with a SC and you dont have to open your engine. Thats why i bought a BENZ.

There are companies that make SC's for the bimmers too. www.esstuning.com and DINAN both make superchargers for the 540I. ESS makes SC's for the Benz' as well, they haven't updated their site yet.

96 STS ready to battle your car
I’ll take you on in my 96 STS here’s a few vids of it performing www.adumbrecords.com/hosting (Bone stock). 96 was the fastest year for this Caddy. The only way to modify is through the main computer, but the dealership will not do this, nor will anyone at Cadillac. One person who had his 96 STS modified in 1996 (see www.cadillacforums.com) hit 13.36 with a modified computer on the stock 300HP Northstar engine. The N* definitely has a lot of hidden power. I run consistent 14.5-14.8 in the ¼ and from a roll I’ve beat several cars I shouldn’t have (M3/GTO) etc. With good driving, I can take your car.
