E240 lock question
option 1. The easy way, tape the window and smash it and buy a new one from a wrecked car, is it possible to open the dorrs from inside if I get into the car?
option 2. Take a screwdrive and some violence to the lock in the drivers door
If you dont want to give me good answers in a open forum, please send me and pm.

I had a Audi RS4 earlier and when I was in the car and it was locked whit the remote it was NOT possible to unlock it / open the doors from inside. You had to unlock it whit the remote or whit the key from outside, and I have no idea how it works on the W210.
I dont want to smash a window and then discover that I need to go for option 2 also to open a door..
that is required to lock a US E320 without having the Smartkey in hand:
- get into rear seat
- lock front doors manually
- lock rear door manually
- exit through open rear door....
- lock remaining rear door and close
oh, it is possible to unlock the doors via the central locking button on dash from
inside the cabin.
Regardless, I think you'll fare better by just getting a new key from the dealer, either by providing your VIN for a pre-coded key or somehow coding a new one and breaking the window to get in the car to do it. Swapping out parts will be a nightmare! I think there are more than a few parts that are security coded together so you'll either need to swap all of them from the donor car or then take the car to a dealer to have them recoded using their computers.
Just leave the car parked or tow it to somewhere it can be parked, order a new key, and be done with it.

If you break a window, just pull up on the lock button and open the door.
All of your potential suggestions will cost much more than just calling a local locksmith to pick the lock.
Thanks for your input!
