Part numbers from MBZ dealer. No CD. Prior to buying E55 I was going to upgrade E430 to E55 suspension spec and I still have part numbers recorded.

Sorry for gone mute for almost a week. Work's been nuts. I have not had the chance to get quotes for parts yet.

What's the difference between the Euro and US spec E55s ?

Which one should I get ?

Not exactly sure, but, I believe the Euro is a tad stiffer and a little lower. Good Luck.

E55 sway bars

Hey Kwik:

Can you provide any detail about bushings, brackets, etc. to fit the E55 sway bars? It is my understanding that there are a couple of brackets and bushings that have to be changed for the larger bars to fit.

I have E55 AMG Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs and really need some E55 bars. My dealer even with 20% off was way too expensive (over $600). Got a dealer in California that priced just the bars at about $400 plus shipping.

Any tips for installing these babies? THANKS!

I would be interested in this as well please.

With Eibach discontinuing the Anit-Roll Kit for the W210, it appears the only choice now is the AMG E55 sway bars. Athough they are suppose to be the same specs, the Eibach were suppose to have been cheaper at the time.

Are the locations where the brackets attach to the frame the same for the E55 brackets as the current OE?

I did not have to buy any bushings or brackets to make them fit. I did the front myself, but the rear requires lowering the subframe so it needs to be done by a shop. Because of the rears, installing sways in a W210 isn't cheap.

I was trying to locate the AMG E55 Front and Rear Springs thorugh MBZ.org and here's the part numbers they have for an 01 E55:

Front springs $57.00 Each 2103212904
Rear Springs $68.00 Each 2103243304

These look different than the ones you provided and I am not sure they are correct.

Does this look right to you?

I can't say. I don't have one of those handy CDs mentioned earlier in the thread. My springs came direct from Germany. I do know the part numbers I posted are good.

You could also go with an after martket spring/shock kit. That's what I did with my C43 and I'm quite pleased.

I've been reading through this thread and wanted to provide an additional data point regarding the topic of W210 suspension. It may be late or a non-issue but thought I would provide it nonetheless.

I have a '02 W210 E55 with approximately 10K miles and recently swapped out my stock suspension for Kleemann springs and shocks. The primary reason I did this is because I found the stock suspension to be sort of "harsh" in its ride characteristics. This is especially felt on rather rough city street roads and also washboard type of surfaces which are quite common hear in the Bay Area on cement freeway sections.

Changing to the Kleemann suspension has resulted in a more refined ride experience with the added advantage of having better handling characteristics when tossed around versus the stock suspension. I also found the steering to be sharper in response from the straight ahead position going into turns. Installing the Kleemann suspension has resulted in the top edge of my front fender being 14" from the wheel center and the rear fender being 14 1/4" from the rear wheel center. The original distance from wheel centers to top edge of the fenders when stock was 15".

I am extremely pleased with this suspension modification because I now have the best of both worlds. A better riding AND handling car as a result. I realize that the Kleemann suspension is very pricey but I would do it again without any hesitation. If one looks at it from a price/performance perspective it probably would be a tougher sell.

Just wanted to provide another point of reference for your consideration.

Do you know if you had the stock E55 spring for the US market or the European E55 springs?

I would assume that my car had the US-spec'ed springs because it was an unmodified US bound targeted vehicle. Other than that I cannot give you an absolute definitive answer. If it helps any, as I mentioned in my previous post the total distance from my wheel centers to the top edge of my fenders was 15" with the stock Monoblock wheels (which shouldn't matter if measuring from center of spindle). I had read elsewhere that the European springs were slightly lower than the US.

Does anyone have a measurement for the Euro springs?

Hi Tracy,

I don't have the budget $2K for the kleemann shocks and springs. I have already bought Bilstein HD shocks but haven't installed them yet. I was looking for the E55 Springs but will consider the kleemann springs if they are compatible with the bilstein HD's. Do you know if they work well together. The kleemann shocks aren't too expensive. I am basically looking for a comfortable ride but better handling for my 01 E430 Sport.

Hi Sheldon,

Unfortunately I do not have much experience with the various combinations of springs and shocks. Though I do remember seeing a previous post stating that Vogtland Springs seem to be quite compatible with HD Bilstein and Koni shocks but please do not take my word on it. You might want to do a search on the forum because this topic definitely has been discussed quite often.

Sorry I couldn't shed more light on this subject.

I saw that you are in San Jose and so am I. Do you have a reference shop to install suspension components (shocks & springs)? I have just purchased a Carlsson kit for my 2002 E320 and looking for a reasonable rate for the install. More like $300 range including alignment.

Hi Frank,

I used Topline Automobile (toplineautomobile.com) in Burlingame to do the install of my Kleemann suspension because they are an authorized installer. In general I have been told that the average time to do a spring and shock install is in the neighborhood of 5 hours + alignment. Topline charges an hourly rate of $95 so you can do the math. Their alignment cost $150 for the service on their laser-based alignment equipment.

I was very satisfied with their work and they definitely are customer satisfaction oriented. This shop tends to do a LOT of work on higher end type cars. Zim is the owner of the shop and I know he does quite a bit of suspension work on MB cars.
