Light Gremlins

I have electrical gremlins and I am not sure where to look next.

I have a 2001 E40 that is haveing some issues. It started out with my brake lights. When I turn on my headlights my brake lights STAY ON. Even when I am not pressing in the brake pedal. I just replaced the brake swithch and that dod not do anything. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I would just like to know where to begin looking.. I am thinking about replacing the whole headlight switch itself, but I am not sure. The metal plate on the back of one of my tail lights is loose and I am wondering if that is not giving me a good connection with all of my contacts would it cause problems with my brake lights? Also when my lights are off and I press the brake pedal on of my front running lights comes on... WIERD... I am frustrated by all of this.

All ideas are very welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Disconnect both your tail-lights(there's a connector on the metal board) and check if the problem disappears(parking lights coming on) if it does check/replace your tail-light inner piece(it's a large circuit basically it sometimes corrodes or can melt, take a good look to see if it can be salvaged). On the over hand if it remains a closer look at the light switch would be in order.

Good luck.

Problem Fixed!!!

Hey everyone, I was able to fix my problem. The plate on the back of my passenger side rear tail light was broken. It wasn't fully conducting the current. Glad it is fixed !!!
