my new custom wood stereo knobs...

The volume knob on my newly purchased 2000 wagon was really bugging me so I tackled this project. With help from here and elsewhere I figured out how to get the command unit out and free the knobs, then I turned two cocobolo knobs on my lathe. It took a lot of work and many refinements but I think it's a vast improvement over the soft melting rubber knobs of yesterday!

Great idea...and nice results.
Wish I had the talent to do that.

Thanks for the encouragement. Having used the knobs for a couple days now I have to say that the feel of them is so much more "high end" than the soft rubber. I look for excuses to use them!

Now you just need a wood shift knob and you will be good to go!

I try not to go too crazy but when I sit in the car and look around I think of all the things I could make. But in the end it would be totally ridiculous to have an all wood interior....or would it?!
