Headrest/Door lock issue

Hey all,

I know it sounds like a PSE pump, but I don't think it is. First off, I have 2001 E430 4-matic. I love the car, but the previous owner wasn't very nice to it. I have corrected most of the issues it was having, but I can't seem to fix this one. The doors lock/unlock perfectly fine with the wireless key fob, but the lock button on the dash does nothing. The headrests also will not retract. After reading all the various PSE posts, I didnt think that it could be the pump since my key FOB worked fine, so i replaced the combination switch with the hazard flasher switch, and the lock/headrest buttons, but it did not fix the problem, so finally I bought another PSE pump and still had the same issue. Would not having the PSE pump coded correctly cause this issue? Im also starting to become suspicious of the SAM module. It seems like the only other component that could cause this. I also noticed that the previous owner had a 30 amp fuse in the number 41 fuse slot which is twice the amperage that should be going into it. Could this have fried the SAM module, and if so why are all the other functions still working? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well you are correct.

When you press the dash HR switch. The SAM gets an electrical message and sends a CAN message to the PSE. And you are also correct that it is suggested to version code a new PSE to your car. Additionally make sure that all fuses are correct, remove the back seat have someone push the HR switch and listen to the pump. I doubt that it gets the message to work!!

Nice result. How much was the SAM?
