E420 RPM'S A Little high

Hey I have a 1997 e420 and when in idle it feels as if the rpms are a little too high the car feels like it wants to keep going. I heard it was the mass air flow sensor but I was wondering if it could potentially be something else?

On a side note no it is not the accidental cruise control either I made sure that was off its just in general..... Anyways if someone has the answer to this that would be very helpful.

How high is the idle speed? We have different cars but once mine begins the cold start ritual at 1200 RPM it settles down pretty quickly to 800 and then 600 when it's at operating temperature (~85C).
