Fiber optic cable?
I want to add a cd changer to my 99 E320. I took a look under the carpet in the trunk to find the fiber connector but not sure which cable to plug into the cd changer. Can anyone give details on this?

Look for 2 amber colored fiber optic leads tied together ending in a black connector...and a small 3pin connector with a blue/black, a brown and black wire (the black wire might be red/black as well, but I think the W210 has an all black wire).

I added a fiber optic cd changer to my '99. The fiber optic cable is not just under the large rectangular mat cover that hides the spare tire. You will need to remove it, then you will need to remove the driver's side (US car) carpet cover in the trunk. This is molded unit and the storage bin will come out with the entire side panel. Once out, you can find the cable's as specified above, they will be obvious. There may be a protective cover over the plug that goes into the changer (the cover snaps off easily). You will find the power cable there too. I remember cutting off a wire tie or two to get the cable where I needed it.

I can get a deal on the CD changer like my C Class has...will this work in the E? Also, is the trunk the ONLY location with the F/O connector?

The 2002 C-Class changer will work. Is this the one that fits in the glove box in the "C" ? For the "E", '99, the fiber optic cable with connector is in the trunk. But, if you a looking to install the changer into the cabin, you may be able to use the cellphone connector, providing you do not already have the phone. This is a stretch though, even though the F/O connections are interchangable, the length of each F/O cable will be the limiting factor.
