It's true if you want an executive class boulevard ride. If you want to run an auto cross with 500+hp in an E63, you'll be happier witht the 19s.

depends on the road in your area too. I have gone from 16 to 18 and its really not that bad on most streets

The car feels great riding on 18s, actually you feel the road more and makes it funner to drive, as oppose to the floating feel of the 16's.
I think 19's or 20's would be pushing it, but 18's are perfect for me. But I guess to each his own, right?

As the wheel diameter increase, so the tyre wall gets thinner so that the correct overall diameter of the tyre can be maintained...nothing new there. But with a 19" wheel the tyre wall is only 80mm high, and with 20s its only 66mm high. Virtually no protection for the rim of the wheel and, of course, virtually no cushioning effect either.

So, as with most things, local conditions will dictate what is the biggest diameter wheel is best for you.

To answer Mikey213...the suspension of the W210 wasn't designed for ultra low profiles tyres as compared to much newer models which can accommodate these sizes. But even newer models still have less comfortable ride on 19s and 20s.

ahhh makes sense. So when you mean "suspension" what parts of suspension allows for a similar newer 19 benz ride? Dampening, shock travel, etc?
