Injection Pump Replacement
Hi
The diesel fuel injection pump has failed on my 1998 E330 D with only 198,000 miles. I purchased a new one from Mercedes and now need to install it. However I have not been able to find the repair steps so that I will know how to index it for the timing etc.
Can anyone steer me in the direction of the factory service steps for replacement of this unit? Or how to get a factory manual?
I own all of the tools and have the expertise necessary to do the work, I just need the steps and technical details.
I will appreciate any help.
Best,
ja

Assuming you are in the US -
There is no printed service manual for the W210 models. MB produced a DVD with all of the service information but it has been discontinued as of a couple of years ago. Recently the MB Classic Car Center in Irvine, CA has been offering the same DVD but the copies don't work.
I think your best bet is to join the MB Workshop System for about $20 for a single day. You can download and print out all of the relevant info.
You might also try a more diesel friendly DIY site like peachparts or benzworld.
Hope that helps some.

This info as well as the DVD (should be almost the same) is designed for an experienced technician. The sites that I mentioned have DIY threads. I'm just not sure what they have for diesel since I have a gas engine.

Out Of Control!!
To save you time during the search of documents, you will need to print out AR07.12-P-8410H.
This is the master document for the pump removal/install, however as you know there are many other things that have to be removed to get to the pump. You will see all that listed as a another document referal
Additionally you will need four special tools, the retail is about 100 USD---Do not attempt the job with out the tools(listed on the master document).
A tip, make dame sure that the crank shaft is set at 14.5 degrees, AFTER TDC before you remove the pump----This is critical and also noted on the document.
Very Good Luck!!
