Oil dripping/running under radiator

1998 E320 Avantgarde Auto (Petrol)

Hi Guys,

I have just noticed an oil leak, quite significant and centrally from beneath the radiator area.

I unclipped the fan cowl and can just see a solid pipe about 10mm diameter, fastened centrally below the radiator on a crossmember. The leak is at this central fixing point.

Can anyone confirm what this pipe is? could it be transmission fluid, perhaps a power steering cooling line

The oil appears clean and clear

Thanks

Regards

On LHD cars the passenger side of the radiator has the in and out pipes for the transmission fluid-----pipes are cheap and easy to DIY

All I can assure you of is that once you remove the fan cowl you will see two small pipes, mine are on the passenger side.

When you remove the front under body cowl and look up, you will see the in and out pipes from the transmission---then two rubber transition hoses then the two pipes into the radiator.

If I were you, I would look at the area from underneath---are the pipes leaking or the radiator??? Good Luck!!
