Removal of the Governor Chip
How hard is it to remove the governor chip in a E55 and what does the car top out at? I have heard the S55 will do 178 without it but wasnt sure about the E55.

I've had my E55 to vmax @ 158-59 mph. It was still pulling! I imagine it would top out in the 160's for sure. The S55 engine is basically the same. I find 178 mph a bit hard to believe, especially in a larger car than the E.

www.renntechmercedes.com can remove the top speed limiter. Good Luck!

My understanding is that you can not eliminate the top speed governer, just raise it's limits. I think Renntech raises it to about 190.
If you remove that line of code in the software, other systems, such as abs and esp will create an error code. These ecus are all linked together.

You can remove the VMax without causing any other problems. Kleemann is the only company that I'm aware of that can remove the VMax, however I wouldn't doubt that Renntech and/or Brabus can as well.
