Question 2001 E320 Sport

Hello everyone I have a 2001 E320 Sport. A couple of things if anyone can help me please or steer me in the right direction.
1.) I was looking under the hood at the data plate and it says 2001 E320 and then 2001 E320 4matic.
I had the car on jacks and was looking under it. The front wheels dont have any drive axels to them. I was lead to unerstand that the 4matic was all wheel drive. So I guess I have a different transmission in the car.

2.) I have a high pitched whining sound that directly correlates to acceleration. When I accelerate the nosie follows the acceleration and decelleration. The AC is not on. The radio is not on. It will make the noise in All drive gears, Park and Neutral.

3.) I want to change the Nav/Stereo system as the one in it uses a CD and is old. If anyone can steer me in right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks everyone.

Mike

Regarding the noise, I would quickly check the transmission fluid level. If you don't know how to do that, take the car to a place that does. Additionally have them check the control module box---make sure its dry.

Regarding the AC, read the manual and make sure the settings are correct.

Regarding the radio, check all the fuses, if that fails take the car to a audio shop

PS: I sure hope this car was given to you!! Good Luck

Thanks, just to let you know the AC and Radio both work. I was just informing that they were both off so that the noise didn't have anything to do with them.
The transmission fluid levels are ok. I put the car back up on jacks and started it up and with a stethoscope I have verified that the noise is indeed coming from the transmission. I am thinking that it might be the Transmission Fluid pump. I will post on the forum once I find out what the problem turns out to be.
