Looking for a source of OEM exhaust parts?

I have an '01 E430 and the right side "cats" are starting to make lots of noise....and the dealer wants $1400 to do one side....so, I'm looking for a source of OEM parts for a reasonable price.
I'd like to stay with OEM parts to eliminate emisions problems, plan to keep the car for many miles.
Any suggestions?

I'm in Colorado if that matters...

Try Autohause, AZ---they have access to a local dealer, but not all parts. Make sure that you search their site by the MB part number.

Also do a state search(non CO)(you save sales tax) for dealers with discounted web OEM sales. I know a couple in the east but will not ship to the west

Check with Magnaflow too.

A gaggle of MB's
If you have noise in the rear cats those can be pullled, shaken out, soaked overnite in a bucket with dishwasher detergent/water, dried and remounted.

Fronts can be replaced with generic cats (Magnaflow) if you don't have state restriction (like CA) which only allow OE. There are "OE rebuilts" out there for that.

Even MB sells rebuilt cats but they are probably still pricey. I was lucky to have fallen within the federally mandated 8 years, 80,000 mile warranty. All I got was a N/C invoice so I don't know what that would have cost. The dealer replaced both sides with new OEM.

The amount of Platinum used in the cats is a very large component of the price. The cheaper ones out there have far less in them and as such will not last as long. They may also cause issues when going for emission cert. Typical OEM cats are good for approximately 100-120,000 miles. These vehicles are ULEV (Ultra low Emissions Vehicle) certified and changing up converters or eliminating them messes with the calibrations for emissions certifications and exhaust gas mapping. Just an FYI.
