factory xenon light went out

one of the xenon light went out on our 97 E420, dealer wants 2 hr labor just to look into it, if the bulb needs to be replace it'll be $200+labor, ballast will be $600-700 + labor.
I probably wanna do it myself.
Does anyone know where I can find just one OEM ballast?

It's pretty simple, you can do all of the work yourself as my sending unit went out on one of my xenons a couple of months ago and I replaced it.

First make sure it's just not the bulb. Remove the bulb that's out (don't touch the glass part) and try it the other side in the unit that works. If it lights up, then of course you know it's not the bulb. The problem will be in the sending unit. That's that big medal box on the bottom of the headlight unit. Remove the entire headlight unit from your car and remove the screws from the sending unit. Pull out the cables from where they are run into the housing and there you go, the unit is removed. Next you can try one one of the MB junkyards listed below and tell them what you need. A unit from an E class or CLK from 96-99 will fit your unit exactly the same. Mine came off of a 99 CLK. The cost is around $300 bucks. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions...

I have plenty of xenon bulbs and ballast units (specific for W210 lights)...

For 700USD I can send you a complete used - in good condition - set of complete OEM W210 xenon lights...for a little more you will get a set of new factory xenon lights...
Does that dealership of you have a big room with complimentary coffee, cookies, haircut and manicure possibilities that need to be paid for?!?!?

Sorry to go off topic but Steve, do you have any lenses by any chance or know where I can purchase a new set??? Mine are foggy and dull. I have tried sanding them to refinish them but all that happened was they became smooth but not any clearer...Thanks.

greetingz,
Dealers do not supply the lenses in the US as they are not meant to be replaced here and the only aftermarket ones avail. from beckers are around $300 bucks! I guess I'll have to eventually give in and fork out the cash... Thanks anyway...
