windshield wipers

Just bought a 1999 E320 and LOVE IT!!! But seem to have a problem with the windshield wipers or maybe the windshield???It never seems to clear the rain well , I told the dealer and he supposedly put a new one on, but still having the same problem. My husband bought me a new one but it was the wrong size but I think it has something to do with the windshield itself. Every week when I wash the car I cant seem to get the windshield clean am I nuts???/

Could be dry rubber on the wiper blade. If so, take a towel and dip it in windshield cleaning solution and wipe/apply in to the rubber on the blade. Does the blade completely touch the windshield from end to end or is it raised and it streaks? If the blade looks fine, maybe the previous owner had RainX or some other water repellent product on the windshield which causes a hazey appearance after a while. If that's the case, you should have it removed by an auto detailer.

Had a similar problem, last time the car was getting serviced had the rubber on the wiper blade replaced because it was drying out. A fairly easy thing to do, ask one of the parts guys to remove the wiper blade bring it into the parts department and ask them to replace the rubber strip on the blade (should be like $9-$11, I don't remmember exactly). Then ask them to put the blade back on. Hope this helps.
