Has anyone used non OEM front axles on their 4matic?

I need a front axle and am seeing $800 for an OEM one and from $60 to $160 for aftermarket....I know OEM is going to be better..but 10 times the cost is a bit hard to swallow! Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket ones...I can get a 2 year unlimited miles on aftermarket...seeems like I should try it. I willl be installing myself.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I got one from peach and it has worked fine so far. Is the axle bad or could it be rebuilt. You can get the boot kit from FPC for pretty cheap.

Yes, Aftermarket do work

Saw your post. Off course the aftermarket parts may not have the same quality as a real MB axle. BUT, at 10% of the price the quality is just fine. I have used aftermarket axles on several different MB and BMW's and have had perfectly good results. Even if the lower quality gives you 6 years out of the axle instead of 8 years. Just buy another set and your still hundreds of dollars to the good. Who knows if you still will even have the car 5-7 years down the line anyway. Craig
