From Lancer to W124 or W210?
Hi
I am currently driving a Mitsubishi Lancer 2002 model 1.3L petrol engine. I am planning to sell it and buy a Mercedes Benz.
Originally I was fascinated by W126 but cannot afford the fuel consumption as my daily drive car. W140 is also out due to the same reason.
I have shortlisted the W124 and W210 due to economic fuel consumption. I did not consider a used W202 as it is mostly available in 1.8L and 2.0L engines only and it is also the lowest class in Mercedes range.
I have shortlisted
1. W124 with a E220 1993 model with M111 engine.
2. W210 with a E230 2000 model with I guess also M111 engine.
both cars are in good condition. The W210 is about 1.4 times expensive than W124.
I am a bit confused between these models for my daily drive car.
W124 is bit old looking however it seems to be easy to maintain, while the parts and maintenance of W210 seem to be expensive.
What are the opinion of owners regarding
1. Comfort level
2. Drive handling
3. Maintenance
4. Spare parts price
5. Reliability
Labour cost is not a big issue. I know a few workshop owners and can get cheap rates.

My lancer's fuel consumption is 9-10km / litre in city
I have asked few owners of Mercedes and they say
1. W124 (efi one) is 10-11km / litre in city
2. w210 is also 10-11 km / litre in city
Whereas the fuel consumption of W126 and W140 is around 6-7 km / litre in city

Congrats on the upgrade and best of luck with it! All the W210's I have had were great! Some small little issues but its a very DIY friendly kind of car. Check the common issues thread on here and Benzworld. Lots of videos on youtube and also the forums.
