How many use K&N or similiar air filter?

I am interested in replacing my stock air cleaner element with a K&N or other non-paper filter. I am just curious how many have done this. I am not planning to change the entire track with a cone type filter, but I am curious about those too.

Thanks in advance!

The Aftermarkit Filters Work Great.. As long as YOU Do NOT Over oil them! I Have Used Them for Several Years Without any Problems
But have seen them Over Oiled and Then Take out the Mass air sensor...

Take a Look at Several filters..some work better than others..
I Had The K/N With the Stock air box on the w210
I Use The BMC Carbon canister on my W210 it Works Great
Better Flow..and Its Looks better than the OE air Box!

Agreed. I have been using K&N's for 20 years on all kinds of vehicles. As Mark points out the trick is not to get overzealous and over oil them.

I am using a RamEx fliter, similar to K&N but half the cost. Works a hundred times better than the stock paper kind and feels like I have a little more "oomf" in my accleration.

One more agreement here that you need to becareful not to over oil your filter.

I have K&N filters in my E55, wife's MonteCarlo, and Suburban, they all work great, clean them every 25-30k miles.

NEW PRODUCT REVIEW

BMC Air Filters
Carbon Dynamic Airbox (CDA)

CDA filtering system is composed of a cylindrical carbon air box containing a washable filtering element. Cold air is directly channelled through an internal airflow deflector to the filter and drawn into the engine with a very small pressure drop (patented system). The CDA system also includes a black alloy ducting (60 cm length) for connecting the system to an air intake on the front of the car. The CDA system is available in two different dimensions: we advise Type 1 for engines up to 1,600 cc; Type 2 for bigger displacements. Every type is also available in different diameters on engine side for connections. Dyno and Datron Laser tests demonstrate the great performance of CDA filtering system.
CDA filtering system, now available in the second step EVO 2, is connected to an air intake in the front of the car through a black alloy ducting. Thanks to the dynamic air intake you have a true supercharging system that conveys cold air at a speed and capacity much bigger than with traditional systems. The airflow entering through the dynamic intake is still further accelerated due to the conical flow variator inside the carbon dynamic air box. Finally, dynamic overboosting, greater airflow, higher pressure and colder air are the elements assuring a considerable increase in engine performance in power and torque. Thus demonstrated by several tests on a Dyno. CDA EVO2 WING, available in 2 dimensions, can be fitted on every kind of car.

That's very tempting - does anyone know power gain (% or HP) with the CDA ?

BTW how much would one of these set me back?

Is there a BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox for the E55 (W210)? I am interested in getting this, but do not believe that the CDA is available for my car. If I am wrong, please let me know.

Sorry about the delayed response. My bad, it's not RamEx (sorry, slip of the finger) but RamFX by FXTeknology LLC in Pasadena, CA (626) 441-3989. They are made by
RAMAIR which is changing their name to RamFX from what I've read. It's exactly as you've said, just pop it right it and it's supposed to give your engine about a 5% power boost, not to mention it breathes better. Just make sure to purchase the cleaning kit and keep it oil. Word of caution once again, do not over oil it as you can cause damage...

Have not been able to determine whether I can get a K&N (or similar) kit for my E300 Turbodiesel. Asked same question on K&N website, never got a response.

Any experience from diesel owners?

Thx
