Quick Radio\Ac control question.

Can the placement of the radio and AC controls be switched? I am getting an aftermarket alpine installed tomorrow and have never seen the two flipped. If anyone has done it let me know.
Thanks

someone had posted a pic on one of these threads awhile ago where it was done. They were installing a video screen/head unit and wanted it on the top. As I recall, the only issue was that some of the wiring had to be extended in order to make it fit; other than that, it was the exact same size and the depth wasn't too much of a problem.

try running some searches in the audio forum and you might find the thread.

This can be done with no sweat! The climate control is connected by two nice sockets that when swung open release from the panel.

Usually you do not need to extend the wiring... often it is held in place by cable ties to the dash reinforcement piece. Releasing these cable ties and getting more play in the wire is generally enough.

The main issue is to make sure that the radio, when installed in the climate control space, is being adequately supported. In some models the support is intended only for the very light (and sub-DIN sized) climate control.

I swapped mine with no problems. The factory stereo was a little tight of a fit to push all of the way in. An aftermarket stereo should not be as deep as the factory one so I would think it should work with no problem. The wire length for the climate control had plenty of length.
