1997 E320 Cylinder 4 Misfire
1/23/13 - I went to autozone with it and had it diagnosed, turns out cylinder 4 is misfiring(Car was idling very rough).
12/20/12 - My father took it to a mechanic last month(Car was idling very rough) mechanic said it needed an oxygen sensor, after that the car was good for about 2 weeks, and then the same malfunction that the mechanic was supposed to fix has returned(Cars idling rough).
I'm thinking its been a misfire all this time? Or did the mechanic incorrectly install the sensor? Or is the sensor not the problem? It's hard to determine if whether this is a coincidence or not

Is your check engine light on!! If it is get a scanner and read out the fault.
If no CEL then you have to be knowledgeable with MB to symptom diagnose the car.
The problem is that there are loads of faulty parts that manifest a miss-simple ones--plugs, wires and coils-----have you looked at the plug vs other cylinders--bla bla bla

It would have been nice if he had given you a code, but no doubt the code would have said #4 cylinder a misfire.
I am not going into all the details, however you need a indy with a DAS Xentry diagnostic software or equal . He can go back in and look at the old faults and the freeze frame data associated with the faults---that helps him pin down the issue. However i would run away from the guy you took the car to last time!!
