98 E320 Base Model (2wheel) starter removal
Hi guys, new to this site. Hopefully you can help. I'm trying to replace my starter and can't seem to get it out. It's about an 1/8 from coming out and hits the motor mount. Does the motor mount have to come out? Am I missing something?

I believe the engine has to be raised. Loosen the fan shroud and MM bolts. Using a piece of wood (2x4?) on the oil pan gently raise the engine about 1-1 1/2" with a trolley jack. Starter should be able to be removed down and out.
