headlights stay on after locking the car

Hey,
Just got the 2001 E430. When I park the car inside of my garage right up to the wall, the headlights stay on well past the delay of 30sec after locking the car. I have the switch to 0. I have the xenon option.
What gives??? Lights don't go off

so what you're saying is that your lights are still on now and refuses to extinguish?
or, that they eventually go out? if the latter, within what time frame?

Hi,
Here's what happened. I drove the car into the garage, placed it in park, turned the lights to position 0 and locked the car with the remote. All the lights that were supposed to turn off in 30 sec did except for the headlights. Those stayed on for well over 10min. I ended up taking the car out of garage by starting it, idled for a bit and shut it off out in my driveway.
This time, the 30 sec delay feature worked and the all the lights turned off. I called the dealer and they said that the delay light feature cannot be turned off, i.e. make it that there is no delay.

you were provided a link earlier to the owner's manual. i would recommend that
you take the time to read through it so you can familiarize yourself with the
features of your new car. i'm sure many of your questions will have been
answered in the manual, or easily gained by using the SEARCH feature on this
forum. otherwise, many of the members here will be simply spending their time
posting same info again

the manual already states that the delayed feature can be set at the dealer,
using the SDS multiplexor

Hey raymond,
thanks for your input. I did read the manual though. All the lights except for the headlights go off. hmmm.

oh sorry. i didn't mean to imply that the manual would address the long-ON
fog lights. rather it addresses that the duration is adjustable. it was confusing
to read your first post which indicated the light would not turn off.
