For my OEM hid setup, I changed the D2r bulbs to 8k (more blueish color). Look on ebay, they sell D2R bulbs in a wide array of kelvin colors. OEM is 4500k. Those bulbs can be had, plug and play, look just like OEM for like $20. Make sure you specify its just the D2R bulb and not a full HID kit.

Did you clip the connector in correctly? Those are Philips bulbs and not some eBay ones and commonly fry something.

Not sure what your asking but if you look closely at the picture the bulb has a crack in the outer brown bar. Would that have caused the frying?
Does this mean that i need to replace the ballast?
or can i clean the connector socket and just put in the new bulb?

The crack in the brown bar wouldn't cause this. It may be that the red connector wasnt clipped onto the bulb correctly. I would carefully clean the contact on the red connector with some sandpaper and put it back in with a new bulb.
