I just purchased 26" goodyears for my car which is what the chart said fit my exact car year and model. Installed them and they go exactly to the edge just overlapping. Am I doing something wrong or are these blades just not compatible with the car?

The oem fitment is 640mm, which is ~25.19 in. I think yours might be a little too long. Here's a link for oem wiper blades:

I never thought of replacing the actual rubber itself but another thing that's attractive about the goodyear is the style the whole wiper looks like just a blade (none of that extra metal enclosure) plus its only 5 bucks. The next size down is 24" would that be too small for these cars?

I just replaced mine with a 24" beam type from a local parts store. Works great.
